Civil War Swords - U.S. Cavalry Sabre

As all swords used during the Civil War, they were more effective during the early years of the war and as new modern weapons such as breech-loaders, repeating rifles and machine guns were introduced the sword became less effective and could only be used in close battles.

This U.S. Cavalry Sabre was one of the most "loved" and wanted civil war swords during the war. This sword was a standard issue for Union cavalry. It was a true warrior in battle, rugged and brutal, it stood up to any test that the Confederates through at the Union cavalry. It came with a leather spiral bound grip and a steel scabbard.
