This successful Mauser automatic pistol was used extensively throughout the first half of the 20th century. The Broomhandle Mauser was also one of Winston Churchill's favorite weapons. 1896 Broomhandle Mauser Automatic Pistol! Production ceased when the German factory was destroyed during WWII. One of the most noteworthy aspects of this weapon is that it was the first successful automatic pistol to be put into production. It was also the first firearm to successfully use the rimless cartridge.
