Historically considered, Oklahoma is a territory of recent origin, but as a small portion of the great tract of south-western country which is plains, uninhabitable lands and Indian Territory. Hard to control because it was wide open and void of law the Oklahoma tribal police played an important part in law enforcement in Oklahoma.
