Civil War U.S. Foot Officer’s Sword
As all swords used during the Civil War, they were more effective during the early years of the war and as new modern weapons such as breech-loaders, repeating rifles and machine guns were introduced the sword became less effective and could only be used in close battles.
Features 34" curved carbon steel blade with elaborate engraving, brass handguard and leather wrapped handle with steel scabbard with brass furniture. The leather grip is spiral wire bound and foliate designs are cast into the hand guard. This is a very popular civil war sword, especially with collectors.
